m. Koford 1952 Tinamotis pentlandi March 29 Huaylasco, 15300' 1st uphill without feeding. Other bird now apparently feeding a little. at 10:00 both walking uphill. At 10:05 another bird appeared near 1st. (This about 100 yd. above nest near cliff.) Then another? seen running to left & going behind cliff. Looking back to see if this was one of two, saw another running to left in same place & out of sight. This was either another chasing it or the same bird which had doubled back. Then looked back to where 2 were and there were still two. By now the second bird from the nest had been followed to near this spot so one of the 2 was probably this one. The other was either the first bird from the nest or the other seen with it, while the other of these was probably the one seen chasing. Now all were lost to sight briefly behind cliff, and then loud calling of several birds was heard. 3 birds now seen standing at foot of cliff about 1 ft. apart with necks stretched upward. This calling lasted 1 to 2 minutes. (10:10) The bird then separated and began feeding. At
