Hcda. Calacala, 13000', D-7 mi. SW Petina,
Lalaimensis at 3 p.m. Tryto pellote under eucalyptus tree.
June 21, 1952. Traps held 1 A. lalim., 4 P. aridae, 1 like
1045; Put up then catalogued. Set no traps. Saw 3 Cavia
in thick grass near stone wall & shot one (g 1522).
June 22, 1952. Sunday. Drove about 2 mi. NE of caserit
& hunted tenanures; saw 5+ shot 3 Natlers, set steel
traps for Cavia.
June 23, 1952. Steel traps held 2 P. aridae & 1 A. yeldkii. Mrs.
Bardes caught yeldkii in trap in house. Several P. aridae
in sheep's wool being packed for selling. Set 25 traps
0 mi Cavia taken in
on rocky bench NW of caserit 1 mile, steel traps
to Juliaca.
June 24, 1952. Traps held 5 A. lalaimensis, 1 A. amorosus
(first taken here). Saw 2 nightjars on rocky bench. Took
up all traps. About 9:30 a.m. left with Bardes in
truck for Juliaca, arriving about 1:30 p.m. Around campsite.
June 25, 1952.
To Hcda. Calacala, 13000'
About 1 p.m. departed with Dr. Pardes & drove back
to Calacala. Set no traps.
June 26, 1952.
Set 30 snap traps near rock wall
& grass, 12 steel traps in runways of Cavia. Collctd
Tryto pellote beneath eucalyptus in yard.
To near Pusi, 15 mi. E Juliaca
June 27, 1952. Traps held 4 A. lalaimensis, 4 P. aridae, 1
like 1045, 2 A. amorosus. Took up all traps. Put up
misc catalogued by M.K. (2) and me (1); discarded others.
Drove to Toroco & S. a few miles beyond Pusi (to 15 mi
E. Juliaca) & camped near a spit dividing shallow
rock filled bay from clear deep lake.
