C. Koford 162 Journal April 14, 1952. Monday Huaylaco, 15000', Dpto. Arq. [illegible] garabie, + roton. One P. sublimis in traps near lake - augmented list to 25. Cloudy at midday + snowstorm 3 p.m. Bothme check, we were 70 miles behind yesterday. April 15, 1952. About ½" snow on ground. Arrive clouds + cold wind. Watched vicuñas 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Snaretraps held a Harpestraya + some P. sublimis. April 16, 1952 Frosty. Examined traps, watched vicuñas on gravel ramps, + collected food plants. Took up snares which held ad. 4 2 min. P. sublimis + a Harpestraya. No prep. April 17, 1952 Frosty clear morning; ½/0 cumbus at noon. M. watched vicuñas in morning, I in afternoon. No prep. April 18, 1952. Frosty clear morning. Watched vicuñas on morning. 300' shop still camped opposite him. 136. Moved camp to near him. 143. No prep. April 19, 1952 Ci - str. overcast; little frost. Watched Tinamotis nest 1 6 to 10 a.m. + took an egg for sampling. New 2 Bego Phoenicis nitelli, Capella, Petricolus aymsus (in small groups), Erlio sp., Muricavolta cavia, Lricleba, + othe birds over stream thru Dintieka nest. April 20, 1952. Ci clouds. Watched Tinamotis nest 6:30 to 9 a.m. Found lion tracks 200 yds. from nest - male since April 14 a.m. About 15 traps set in sand among spring feature clumps held 2 Harpestraya (deceased?). Shot a Phoenicis in afternoon. Ducks + coots (wil. jun.) on nearby lake. April 21, 1952 Watched Tinamotis nest in early morning to 9 a.m. Shot a Capella & Phoenicis in afternoon in a bush not from bank. Nothing in snares traps but lizards.
