C. Koford 161 Journal April 5, 1952. Huaylaco, 15000', Dto. Arequipa and checked nest 2 6-10 a.m. 1/2 cumulus clouds. Many watched vicerias in afternoon. Drave in late afternoon. looked for [illegible] tools in noon and April 6, 1952. Many watched vicerias in morning. I watched 3:20-5:30 p.m. No precipitaton. April 7, 1952. From water gas line delayed me until 8:30. Watched vicerias all day until dark. No precipitaton & few clouds. April 8, 1952. Watched vicerias in morning. Checked [illegible] nest 2 and found all well. Set 15 snap traps on sandy ground among Festuca near Lake Pireno & a 3rd steel trap near nest (caracaras in one of others). Shot a Phyllotis with nest & a M. cinerea. Saw pair black & non yellow spinus near rocks. Shot [illegible] [illegible] for pot. April 9, 1952. Many watched vicerias in morning, I in afternoon. Moon nearly full. No precip. & few clouds. April 10, 1952. I watched vicerias in morning, Many in afternoon. 2 junc. seen shortly after birth. Few clouds but light snow for 1/2 hr. Moon full. My traps by Lake P. held 0. April 11, 1952. Cold clear frosty morning. I checked on [illegible] nest 2; all well, & I watched it until 5 p.m. 10 snap traps held 2 min. & 2 ad. Phyllotis darwini (discarded all). April 12, 1952. Cold frosty morning. Watched vicerias most of day. 15 snap traps near Lake Pireno held 1 desparraps; tracks of several mice seen in sand near traps. to 11 a.m. April 13, 1952. Watched vicerias from 5:30 a.m. Cold frosty little morning. Their series lose today & so weird. Walked over nearby hills for 3 1/2 hrs. in afternoon. Phileorlyps in groups up to [illegible] common. Many watched vicerias evening. April 14, 1952. Watched vicerias 7 to 7:30; 3-5. Drave to helteris for
