Notraffie-kelt holidays? February 26, 1952. Some stars + no prcpis. at night (or snow even of 24th). Frost. Watched vicuñas 7a.m.-12M.. New jir. at 139.1. winter Bathing in morning. Car stuck in mud+ removed. Many watched 4-5p.m. No precipitatio. Only 2 trucks + 2 cars go road all day. February 27, 1952 7a.m., ½ cc.-str.; no pcpip. last night. Frosty morning. Noon, 7/10 thick cirro-stratus, 1/10 cirrus below + fan wind from W. Ground+ streams driest in almost 2 months. 15° flamingoes at road end of Lake Titicaca. wind + clearing even more in late afternoon. February 28, 1952 6 a.m., 7/10 cirrus clouds. Sunrise 5:45 at camp. Frost. Temps. -5°C,+12°C. No rain since evening Feb. 24. Watched vicuñas 8-12, 2-3. February 29, 1952 -5°C.min. Frost. 3/10 ci-str. at 7a.m. watched vicuñas 8-12:30, 4-5. 9/10 cumulus by evening. No rain during day. Watched birth of vicuñas + saw 14 adults try to get it from mother. March 1, 1952. ½ overcast in morning; all in afternoon. Hail for ½ hr about 5 p.m. (first prcip. since Feb. 24). Watched vicuñas 6:45-8 a.m. + saw capulin for first time. Many tried to trap vicuñachan most of day. March 2, 1952 9/10 cumulus by 9a.m. Frosty morning. Car repairs. Mary caught ad. & wisscha in traps. Bednote from Bazon at km. 131 (from Puno) + visited P's in afternoon. They had Pachaporta nest under observation. Red sea cab went by Diana Vargas (origin of Quibai) March 3, 1952. Clear+ frosty morning, clouding up, & snow-4p.m. till dusk. Watched vicuñas 7-10, 2-4. Built bear cage. Thensier in flowers 10°.
