C. Koford 152 Journal January 29, 1952 Hray (arcq.) 5000; Dato. Arqqupa, Perc- rain Too no snow, lost night. Temps. -1° +8°. Spent morning extracting car from mud. Mary watched vicuna 10-11:30, I from 3-4 p.m. Sunny at times; all overcast and drizzly at 4 p.m. January 30, 1952 Temps. 0° +9°. No precipitation noticed during night. Watched vicuna groups, km. 133-134, from 9-11:30. Cumulo-status overcast by noon. Took up to temps; 5 big-ants only catch. Rain m off after 3 p.m. January 31, 1952 Temps. °C. 1" snow fell + rain early night during night. Left 7:10 a.m. from camp + hunted tucos near km. 143 from 7:45-9:45; shot 2 qqs. Returned to camp. February 1, 1952 Departed 8 a.m. + drove to Arequipa, arriving 4 p.m. Rain from Salinas on, overcast + raining at Arequipa. Road bad - two bridges out beyond El Loto Solitario, + wide washes at two streams nr. km. 23 & 20 from Arequipa. Plenty of mud & chuck holes. Skipped some. Summer (morning only walk) schedule in effect. Campst nr. km. 9. February 2-4, 1952 Arequipa, Perc- Found Mrs. Neller back + stayed at her house. Stopped, visited gun permit (109 Ugarte) and Extranjera people, prepared specimens for shipment. Mrs. Neller has a pet young jaguarundi, Dromys, + 2 Atelo from Tambopato area, + pet Durcujon bought in Arequipa (almost every day now one is offered for sale), + a penguin from San Lira, all tame house pets (for son chori & not too tame). From area below Sancia she had no game.
