C. Koford 145 Journal December 26, 1951 Huaylarcó, 15000', Dpto. Arequipa bird nests, old, in cavities in rocks where coyote worked 1 or more above opening. Returned to Huaylarcó. Some grills & coasts still on nests in Lake Piñón. Coast with walking Danny young sen. I shot a flam ingoes at lake. December 27, 1951. Hunted tinamous just saw none. Hunted Led Nettin & Arnez on lake Piñones. A. Pearson shot an avocet, one of 2, on lake. Saw 5 cardors. Snow in afternoon. December 28, 1951. Pearson & Mary hunted Tinamotis sands but saw none. Nearly clear until 9 a.m. I took picture flamingos, visiting bands in snow. Pearson's (42) & Mary saw attogin. O.P. photod nest of grill atop rock near edge of a 200 yd. long lake. Danny chick & piped egg in nest (both gray with dark marks). Two adults flew to 15' overhead diving came at us. Nettins Arnez & flamingoes on lake. I shot a 07 for sen near vicuna herd. Pearson's departed in afternoon. Snow in late afternoon. Saw 14 cardors. December 29, 1951. 3" dry snow on ground 6 a.m., melt- ing rapidly. Prepared specimens. Visited greensal & rocks 1/2 mile NW km. 142; many macafer, now tracks in snow (divinal). Looked for new camp site. Stream highest yet in afternoon. Rain & snow in late afternoon. December 30, 1951. Snowing lightly in morning + 3" snow on ground. Snow stopped about 9 a.m. & all nest,
