C. Koford 142 Journal December 15, 1951. Solinas, 14200', Opto. Arequipa. alpine grass along shore. Set 4 traps a rocky hills. December 16, 1951. Clear cold night; ice inside Trailer. Traps held 1 P. derminii juv., 2 A. jelebei (M.K. spening). Drove to brax co.;-delapidated large sheet iron building with Indian carabao. Then drove 11 miles beyond on fair dirt road to side lake toward Ulivera (road goes on to- ward Ulivera). A flat green short grass strip up to 1/2 mile wide along lakeshore, & many llanos + alpacas here. Scattered mud + rock Indian houses. Occasional groups vicinor. Saw Netrias in canal, Cuidaba, Jorette, gray Plygillus), Lissania (lakeshore). An Indian told me that a collector was here some years ago, lodged at brax co., & took skunka, foxes, mice. He said no venado here, no herrores or muasde. Clear in morning, clause starting about noon over Piche-Piche. Behind green around lake is flat or gentle slope of sandy ground with clump spiny ichu. Toward Ulivera from brax co. some area of 1' high tola. No snow on visible nite. Good views Misti; Chocain, Ulivera from points on lake shore. Some side route going somewhat higher for this area. Rest all traps (50). December 17, 1951. Cold night + clear morning. Traps held 2 P. derminii ($ 1380 & 1 juv.). Saw mouse tracks on sand among spiny ichu. Took up 20+ traps & rest among tall grass, rocky sand, 4/4 mile W. camp on slope. Drove up a road toward Piche-Piche & hiked one hour asphiled to about upper limit vegetation. Many muasdees there any large buildings. Good for future trapping. Saw tracks
