October 28, 1951 Aguasani, 3 mi. N. Limbani, Depto. Purg Perù
Saw 1 conra in morning. Hard rain for 1 hr. + after dark.
October 29, 1951. Local traps held 3 mekimi - arjil oryzomps.
We packed up & drove to upper traps. Catch: M.K. 3 oryzomps (small white belly), 3 A. bolivinnis; C.L., 3 A. boli., 2 oryzomps.
About ½ mile below Limbani ground more grazed + rocky, as at 11500', & perhaps would have some of higher alt. forms (Nesturae,
A. yelkii, P. pistor). Overt at noon. Relied up trails to Narcani
ani & drove to Lake Aricoma. Rain, + snow above 15000'. Not
snow at lake until sunset, then cleared. Set no traps.
October 30, 1951.
Lake Aricoma, 15000', to Port Arthur, 13000'
Clear morning but soon clouding to 5/10. Departed 11 a.m.
and drove to Cueuro, thence to Port Arthur, a finca near
Rosario, & camped Luj river. Saw 30+ Nettion on one
pond, 30+ black crowns night heron, yellow legs, 1 wilson?
snipe, glossy ibises. A small kind of sort or tike ponds by
Port Arthur finca house. Ruin slow her & few trout.
Saw Claygulus plebeys, Bontrichsia, Cincloides, common at Port
Arthur (foundyounged by japs). Set 30 traps in grass along rock
wall, + a rocky-grassy hill (dry).
October 31, 1951
Traps held 3 A. bolivinnis (grass, dry, a flat near river;
norocks), 2 A. yelkii (rock wall), + 2 P. pistor (thick fine
grass near rocks at top rocky bluff). Put up one of each.
Drove to about 5 miles beyond Arells & camped by side
road. Set 30 traps among rocks, brush, + grass (little) on
slope. Saw 2 aplomado falcons, Agriornis, a yellow
lilled black-faced grey caped sparrow with gray tail wit
