C. Koford Journal October 25, 1951 N. Ping, Peru Agualoni, 3 mi. ssw Limboni, 7500', Octo. X kind: Wrens, robins, chinchols, comoros, + blue backed swallow (as at Oranque). ||of mice taken yesterday, put up P. phaea (1314?), discarded Oryzomye (07, 210-118, 18gms., test. 4½), P. pictus (juv., 19 151-63, +8 gms.) Shot black flycatcher and a red breasted Tangara (?); specimens. Traps took 5 more A. balvinisii during day. Set 15 additional traps on wooded lower stream. Rain off & on & off during night. October 26, 1951 (M.K cat.) (MKcat) Oryzomye Traps held 2 A. balvinisii, 1 small [illegible], (MK. catalog) (C.K. catalog). 3 medium-aged Oryzomye, 2 cornoliste. Shot 2 black backed (specimens) yellow breasted Rufous ground birds in dense damp woods. Stemmy low clouds in morning. Saw 4 hide hummingbirds. Shot red breasted blue-backed Tangara. Set 30+ traps on damp frosty slope near river near tunnel (8000 ft.). Overcast (all day. Rain for 1 hr. at 7 a.m. Caught small robin in snare trap. October 27, 1951. Close trap line held 1 Oryzomye, 1 cornoliste (both M.K. catalog). Further line held 1 large Oryzomye, 2 oryzomines, 3 A. balvinisii ?. Shot 2 kinds yellow birds + a brown flycatcher (all specimens). Took up all traps & set 25+ from stream to top of grassy slope. Rain on and off after 10 a.m., hard in late afternoon, clearing at dusk. October 28, 1951. Clear night + sunny morning, clouding up 9-10 a.m. Traps held 1 medium-aged Oryzomye (MK catalog), 2 small Oryzomye (1 M.K., other discarded), 4 A. balvinisii (disc- carded). Took up all but 5 traps (near Cavia ? sign). Set 10 in wet woods near stream. With Mary set 35 near grass + brush & some rocks from 10000-10600 ft. on road to Lima train, below Camachani tunnel. Rain about 4 p.m.
