C. Koford 129 Journal Dpto. Puno, Peru- October 21, 1951 4 miles SSW Limbani, 13000', my obsene. No rain then but cloudy off & on in daytime. October 22, 1951 Put up specimens. Took up all traps (but 2). Set traps (me 39, may 27) about 1 mile S. of Limbani where had trapped before. Clear morning, cloudy afternoon. Clear night. October 23, 1951. Traps (2) at 13000' held: B. lanimii & (discarded). Traps 1 mile S. Limbani held 3 Odyneus, 3 Onygnys, 2 A. jelshii, 2 Phyllotis phaeus, 1 A. boliviensis, 1 P. pictus, 1 Nestanyx. Picked up all traps. Returned to trails to skin mice. Yz cumulus clouds by 10 a.m. Overcast rest of day & evening. Set 402 traps in thick grass & new robust bushes near stream. Rain starting about 10 p.m. October 24, 1951 Rain on into morning. Took up traps. Colch 1 P. phaeus, 1 baby P. pictus, 1 small Onygnys, 1 frog. We took trails to HuancaranĂ­, about 2 miles NNE road, & left it. Then we drove down to Limbani & Aguacani & camped near the Inca Co. warehouse. Set 50+ traps in mo thick damp vegetation. Foggy overcast all afternoon. Above Limbani at 12000' ft. level saw 2 of the dark gray birds with white heads on rocks in rushing stream. Saw 5+ late in evening. Cleared after dark. October 25, 1951 Aguacani, 3 miles SSW Limbani, 9500' Traps held 2 caenolestids (near stream in dark damp veget- ation), 1 Onygnys (near stream), + 7 Akodon boliviensis? (brush + damp ferns + leaves not near stream). Soon steaming clovers formed. Shot hummingbird & saw several of same
