October 14, 1951 To Aricoma 1500', Dpto. Puno, Peru-
1/2 overcast at sunrise. Shot a penguin (skelton)+saw a
second with it near camp. Drove on to Cucusus. Fished
for an hour & 5 miles below Pozaris & took 12 rainbow
up to 12" on fly. Overcast at Cucusus. The town had kinds
of Andirans + improved tent stalls so this was firsts
of Nuestro Seño de Posaris. This would go on another
4 days. At our Aricoma camp found hail on rock
dep on much of the ground.
October 15, 1951 Aricoma 1500', Dpto. Puno
Clear at 7 a.m. Water had slight ice. By noon, 5/16 cumulus
+ rain for 1/2 hour. Took walked to W. de Indus. + back.
Saw one Agriasia. Collected some plants. Prepared to
depart tomorrow. Because of bad weather + fog here
while other winter areas are dry + clear, we decided
to leave this area but first trap further in the
Limbania area. Light snow in evening.
October 16, 1951 To 4 mi. SSW Limbani, 1300', Dpto. Puno
Light snow on ground + all overcast in morning. Towed
trails to near road + left it. Drove 8 mile down road
toward Limbani looking for places to camp with trail.
m. Returned for trails. Rain + snow at dinnia at
noon. Towed trails to site about 5 mile up road
from Limbani, 1300'. Many granite boulder + outcrop-
plunge, grassy slopes, & bushes (small white flower, smat.
i). I set 30 snap traps near boulders + shrubs. Mary
set about 30 traps too. Overcast in evening. Need
flocker
