C. Koford Journal (pp 1-117 inserted at end vol.) September 29, 1951. Arizona 15000', Dpto. Puno, Peru. Clear calm morning, wind by 10 a.m., 5/10 cumulus by 2 p.m. Min. temp. -2°C. Drove down Limbani road to traps. Col 1 g Chinchillula (M.K. 1066), 1 A. boliviensis. Returned to House. Traps at Des Flats held 0 - took up all but 10 in passage in deep grass on flat. Trapping has been relatively poor since first big snowstorm last month. Looked for vicuñas in Basin 1:30-3:30. Max. temp. +13½°C. Clearing at sunset. September 29, 1951. Min. temp. -2½°C. Trap line held 1 Chinchillula (M.K. catalog), 2 P. pictus, 1 A. jelskii, 1 P. sublimis. Watched vicuñas near summit 10:30- 11:30. Returned to House. Hail on & off all afternoon. Max. temp. +13½°C. September 30, 1951. Sunday. Drove to Cuenca + Laco. Shot a Beasitte, Asttore x planus near Lake Arecena. Put these up. Day clear in morning and about 3/10 cloudy in afternoon. 1 P. sublimis g in a single trap set yesterday; deceased. Fawns seen daily, especially in warm forenoon. Max. temp. <13½°C. October 1, 1951. Min. temp. -3°C. Light snow on ground, quickly melting. Clear. Fair breeze up canyon 7 a.m. & all day. About 3/10 cloudy at noon, 9/10 3 p.m. Sprinkling of snow in late afternoon. Max. temp. +11½°C. Watched vicuñas in Basin 6:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. October 2, 1951. Min. temp. -4°C. Clear; 5/10 overcast at noon. Fair breeze. Watched vicuñas in Basin To saw 11 a.m. Took up 10 traps on Des Flats, left Sept. 28; held 1 Nastomyx. New moon.
