8 am From 137 drove down road first, at
135 ½ ♀A, ♂J across stream. (Road workers at
136.) At 133.2 ♂A lying prone off of road.
At 133 ♂A, ♂J E of road at far edge of
gr[een] near sand ridge - may have been
more behind ridge. Drove up road.
At 138 ♂ with 3 yearlings above road,
at 139.2 ♀A, ♂J in broken bridge
draw, ♂A across road. One of these is
♂ with light lines on sides. Other is
adult ♀. ♀ defecated or urinated on pile,
then ♂ went to pile, sniffed long at the
spot, then gave "wolf howl" with teeth
bared. Repeated two more times. Then
worked forefeet up and down on the spot
& defecated; sniffed again, tramped again,
stood but didn't urinate, & walked off.
Up E 139 Draw are ♂A, ♀J. Drove back.
At 138.9 ♀♂(?) above road. At 137.6
♂(♂♂?) above road. ♂(♂♂?) in E 137.5 Draw.
Started watching the ♂A, ♂J at 135½ at
9 am. 9:00 ♂ to pile. 9:08 paler jaw prone
still grazing. 9:10 all grazing again. Walked
behind hill out of sight & ♂ left. ♂A in
E 138.4 Draw. ♂A across stream at 138.8. At
138.9 ♀A, ♂J above road. ♂A, ♂J in stream
just below Broken Bridge. ♂A still across road.
