Feb.14 Huaylcarco, 52 mi ENE Arequipa, 15000' away from it while it was still nursing and ran with juvenile with or ahead of her to join rest (now at foot of slope in sandy area again). Returning: at 134.1 on right lone one; at 134.5 // on left; at 136.2 4 (3 pregnant) on right near road; at 136.7 4 just across stream (same 4 as across from camp with 2 yearlings)
Feb.26 4 pm at 137.8 just west of road 6 // 1 across road which later joined them (this the // & presume which had probably been chasing a group of 11 ??). Of the 6, one was a yearling // and one of the others did not look pregnant. On E 138 flat were 3 and another one 100 yd. from them which ran toward them as if to chase them, then stopped 100 yd. from them. 200 yd. E of 138.9 were 4 adults. 50 yd. W of 139 was 1 adult. On E 139 draw were 6 adults with 2 juveniles. On W 139.3 draw were 9 adults with 1 juvenile.
March 19 I drove up the road at about 4:30 pm from our new camp at 134 to 139. The road workers had just walked home and I saw few vicuñas.
