M. Koford 1952 Vicugna 27 Feb. 10 Huaylorce, 52 mi. ENE Arequipa, 15000' I saw the smallest (the frisky one) urinates and it too is a ♂. They grazed on east side of Stream just north of where creek from E 138.2 Draw enters. The other 4 in that Draw are now on south side of this creek about 100 yd. away. The "frisky one" ran about 50 yd. up the draw and the ♂ of the 4 which belong here started toward it. It ran back to its own group & was chased by its own ♂ but stayed. ♂ of resident 4 (south of creek) now came toward newcomers, whose ♂ (north of creek) went to meet it. They watched each other separated by creek, then ♂ south of creek returned to its group and allowed ♂ with 3 yearlings to remain on spot east of Stream just north of creek from E 138.2 Draw. On my way back saw a group of about 15 being chased across E 138 flat to north by ♂ of 10, this group being 100 yd. west of road at 137.8. Feb. 14 1:30 pm at 136.2, 21 below corral) 4 (♀ group) up hill & upstream. At 134.2 11 top Stream on right in usual place. At 133.6 lone ♂ on right. At 133 on left 11 in this group seen later one group mostly hidden behind sand ridge, & another of 3 100 yd. from them.
