M. Koford 1952 Vicugna Feb. 9 Huaylarcos, 52 mi. ENE Arequipa, 15,000' 3 (???) crossed road at 138, were chased by ? of 3 at 138.1, and ran across E 138 flat. No others in E 138.2 Draw. Nothing to correspond to groups 4 watched yesterday in SW Branch, which must have resulted from some disturbance. Feb. 10 AM Opposite 137.4 and near stream (W aid) were 2. Across from them in mouth of E 137.5 Draw was 1. On hillside to W of road at 137.8 were 10. 2 (???) ran up canyon which crosses road at 137.65 and up near 10, whose ? chased them on up over hill. 150 yd. W 138 were 4 (3 yesterday) with 3 yearlings. None in bottom of E 138.2 Draw or around Rocky Hill. I watched the 4 with 3 Y. One of the yearlings pranced about with tail up whenever they moved about. The ? chased it several times. ? lay down much of the time. I can distinguish all 3 yearlings. The one which gets chased is smallest. Of other 2 one is darker and older looking (this one sexed - a ?) and the other has a very fuzzy head. All moved down to the road at the culvert just beyond 138 and rolled on road bank just beyond culvert below road.
