M. Koford 1952 21 Vicugna Feb. 3 Huaylaco, 52 mi. ENE Arquipa, 15-000' over hill toward them - chased down across stream to near me. They gave alarm squeal at me and ran on around me. [illegible] stopped 100 yd. from me and stood several minutes squealing at me, then returned across stream, stopped, and squealed some more. His group moved a little toward him and watched. Finally he returned to them. He chased another group of 3 which came over ridge from same way as 4. These ran back over ridge. One, a yearling, refused to be chased at first, acted like a ♀ and even advanced toward [illegible] wagging tail and thrusting neck back + then forward toward him. He turned and kicked at it with tail raised. Finally it walked away and over ridge. All 5 adults ♀♀ in this group look pregnant. Feb. 8 10 [illegible] at 137.2 (early pm) no more seen until 135.89: 4 [illegible] meters SE 139; 2 100 meters NW 139; 6 (adults) 200 meters NE 139; 2 or more on ridge at head of E 139 Draw. Started back. 2 groups of 6 each in W 138.6 Draw. One group crossed road toward E 138.4 Draw.
