Feb. 3 Huaylaco, 52 mi. ENE Arquipa, 15-000'
over hill toward them - chased down
across stream to near me. They gave
alarm squeal at me and ran on around
me. [illegible] stopped 100 yd. from me and
stood several minutes squealing at
me, then returned across stream,
stopped, and squealed some more.
His group moved a little toward
him and watched. Finally he
returned to them. He chased
another group of 3 which came
over ridge from same way as 4.
These ran back over ridge. One,
a yearling, refused to be chased
at first, acted like a ♀ and even
advanced toward [illegible] wagging tail
and thrusting neck back + then forward
toward him.
He turned and kicked at it with
tail raised. Finally it walked
away and over ridge. All 5 adults
♀♀ in this group look pregnant.
