M. Koford 1952 Vicugna Feb. 3 Huaylarco, 52 mi. ENE Arequipa, 15000' and old ? got up and went down to pile - defecated & urinated. Smaller yearling ran down & ditto. Other followed, walked past pile, then stopped & went back & performed. Both those are ?? . Then I came to pile. Then I quit watching. The pair above camp on our side of stream are grazing very near stream 200 yd. above camp, almost directly across from the 4 which have now moved down close to stream again 10:30 just below road at 137 1/2 group of 8 with 2 yearlings. This is group that was 11 with 5 yearlings. They ran across road and up onto "ichu ridge" when I walked up. I watched them graze up there and lie down during a hail storm. One yearling is a ?. Left for lunch. Watched ? again pm. They were across stream at 137 1/2 in mouth of draw where 13 were Feb. 1. One walked down draw ^ & moved (to chase them?) upstream 200 yd. One yearling is a ?, one a ? ("wolf howl" twice when passing pile). The adult ? chased a group of 4 (probably ??) which came
