2876 Gymnogyps californianus February 12, 1946 Whiteacre Pk., Calif. Whiteacre Pk. Another adult circled down & alighted alongside at 12:08+. Ruffed high up on both. This series of ledges - on the slope side of Napier Rim, offers many nesting possibilities. The birds moved 6+' apart after 5+ minutes and were still that way at 12:30. They occas- ionally preened or looked at their feet - very quies- cent - just standing - right side to sun. Breeze very light. About 12:15 saw 2 circling & rising at same level over W. Rim. Air nearly calm at times - smokey haze in valleys. The rising cordon seemed to be using more dihedral than usual - lizzard like . 12:50- no change in the 2 perched adults; they appeared: [illegible] atop the 60+' high ledge, the highest in a series of + such ledges, 150+ below level of highest ledge on W. Napier Rim. On the steep slope below the birds are many Bz., some with bare limbs which appear suitable for perches & roosts. About 1:07+1/2, outer adult spread wings & sunned back. Ruff down during this process, & the bird preened under parts with bill. 1:10 folded wings slowly, one a little before the other. 1:14+, this outer bird walked around inner one, head down & one wing half raised. The other calmly walk-
