Gymnogyps californianus March 22, 1946 Hopper Canyon, Calif. toward the [illegible] in a long fly glide. about 1 mile W. of Rim it put feet halfway down, cir- cled back, then continued on toward the falls at Oil Well Pt. on the Big Slope, occasionally giving a wing dip. When last seen at 9:51 it was near the cliffs 1/4+ mile S. of the falls - not improbably a nesting adult; early rising time & no company do not indicate foraging. May. be going to the nest so I found there in 1940. At 8:40 I saw 4 cardors at Big Cove area about 1/3 way up the cliff, perched on ledges & occasionally shifting. 9:13, occasional light breezes, 30° F. I saw 2 adults circling near Cardor Knoll (below Big Cove) & 2 cardors perched on Whitewash Ledge. 9:15, three atop cliff above Whitewash Ledge & 2 on ledge & 1 on Saddle Pt. - 6 total (+1 to Slope & one each on #11/4 #12 nests = 9). 9:25 - four (2 ad; 2 imm.) circling over lower Cardor Canyon; one two on Whitewash Ledge, 1 summing (for 7 1/2 minutes continuously, summing back, wings out) on Saddle Pt. 9:30 9:35- one gone from Saddle Pt.. 9:35, one adult atop Flat Pt.; summed back for 2 minutes. Five circling near Cardor Knoll, none visible near Big Cove. 9:49, adult left Flat Pt. - now visible perched anywhere. 9:45- me adult was about at at about 7500 ft. level over Spring Canyon Mdw., after having worked
