Gymnogyps californianus February 15, 1946 Santa Barbara, Calif. on the gate at Pete Logan's. Lyka said the pam- phlet on condors put out by CS Colvin has stim- ulated the interest of lookouts greatly, & that they still had some of the reporting forms form- only used. At Santa Barbara talked to Al Nolen and Supervisor Nash-Baulden. N.-B. said that last year there was a young condor near Big Rive L.O. The look- out, Mrs. Boyce, saw the adult feed the youngster near the lookout house. N.B saw the bird at the lookout & said he took some pictures of it tho not good. They figured the nest was between the lookout & the crest of the road. A mule was killed in the vicinity for the purpose of getting condor pictures. N-B said the condors & hawks cleaned it - even the shoes were gone, tho he did not see the condors eat it or get any picture. This mule was laidant in late fall. N-B said that Carter had sent him a report of condors being seen in Stone Canyon near the coal mine (near Don Miguel). He also said there were occasional reports from hunting on the Cleveland NF. All the lookouts have not been manned the last few war years, N-B said. He said he had only seen 1 or 2 birds on 3 (?) trips to the disjune Sanctuary. Charlie Tant, Ivan Hunter, now stays at Los Cruces or with Doc Webberist Webber's ranch. Nash Baulden pool poohed the idea that too many people were getting into Nopper Canyon
