27 20 Nov Grapevine Canyon After lunch, went to an area with some Yucca brevifolia, Larrea, A triplex at which Margaret did a transect yesterday. This is 3.7 miles E of Scotty's Castle at a benchmark 3784 feet. Set 60 traps, 3-trap stations, going S up and over hill with a large 4-headed Yucca and up past a white rock outcrop. Also made 4 gopher sets. Soil gravel with rock outcrops, volcanic; weather: beautiful! partly cloudy, light breeze, temp high 60's. Moon full. Also went to Cottonwood curve 1 mi W of Scotty's Castle, benchmark 2706 feet Set 60 traps, 3-trap stations in 4 lines 15 traps (5 sets) per line. Line 1: up wash S of road, line 2 up hill S of road E of wash, line 3 in cottonwood riparian, line 4 Nard going along small wash N of road W of Cottonwoods. Vegetation: Larrea, A triplexes Ericogonus rexfordii, Stephanocerta, Senecio Populus, Phragmites, Hymenoxys. Soil, rocky-takes hillside; wash sandy-gravelly. 21 Nov Grapevine Canyon 3.7 miles E of Scotty's Castle 3784 feet Trap success: 60 traps Peromyscus crinitus 4 (458, 459) Dipodomys microps 2 (1swap) (420, 421) That's all. Gopher traps -> 0. I saw an Aneuospermum in an A triplex confertiflora near road here. Traps up @ 845.
