Kingsley 1980 49 25 Sept continued. Same location, then thru Titus Canyon, Klare Spring, around to Corkscrew Spring, then home There was what appeared to be a kit-fox horror in the wash bowl beside our tent. Only birds we got a good look at here were Ravens. There were some sparrows that I couldn't identify. Zebra-tailed lizards in wash, Utah, many young, on pavement. Packed up and left by 1100. Between this point and Leadfield, saw 7 Aemmespermophilos, young mostly, along road. Also a Rock Wren anda Brown-headed Cowbird. Saw one Sylvilagus between gate and red pass. One bighorn lamb running ahead of us for about 1/5 mile, approx 1 mile E of Klare Spring. Picked up skull of ewe first seen 7 Sept 1980. Monarch butterflies were abundant in lower canyon, saw 25+, feeding on Clergesthannuses which was profusely in bloom. Parked at Corkscrew Peak sign on Boundary Canyon Rd, and hiked to Corkscrew Spring to retrieve our camera. The camera had fallen off its rock, did not appear damaged. Numerous Zebra-tailed lizards, nothing else. Temp was 100+, some high, thin clouds. Finished at 1630, headed for home. 4 October Phinney Canyon Rd to mine shaft campsite Arrived on study area about 1600, after running out of gas a few miles out of Beatty, talking with some frustrated Cuikar hunters 2-4 miles E of Monument Boundary.
