43 22 Sept continued 1/2 mile Lucin GrapevinePk 5800ft. on the topo map. This slope has several rock outcrops and small rocky canyons. Vegetation is Artemesia, Pinon, and junipers (some of these rather large), Mesodora, Ephedra and other less common shrubs. The opposite slope has no pinons or junipers, just shrubs. Purplea is common in the drainages on both slopes and there is a stand of it in the valley. There is much evidence of cattle, some of deer. Did not notice gopher sign; there were a few Nestorica nests among the rocks and canyons. Weather was warm (70-80 F) and breezy, occasional light breeze. A full or near-full moon tonight. Set 100 trays, 60 Shermanes and 40 Museum Specials, on 3 lines, spaced approx 20 meters. Trays paired, on the two long lines Museum special and Shermane, on the short line both Shermanes. Two long lines began on treeless slope, crossed valley, went up tried slope almost to top of ridge. Stations 20 meters apart, bait oats coated with peanut butter and bacon grease. Trap lines were approx 30 meters apart; parallelly 40 traps each line. Short line, 20-traps, set in valley along Margaret's vegetation transect line for 100 meters, then continuing eastward
