26 30 July 1980, Titanothere Canyon. Left the cool pines of Plumbey Mine to head for the sweltering depths of Titanothere Canyon to put time lapse movie cameras at springs. Put one camera at Fern Spring #200 and another at rock pools about 50 ft up canyon. Bottle springs showed evidence of Big Horn activity. Put a camera at Lostman Spring #199 which had no obvious water but had steep trails. Hiked back to truck and collapsed. Hot weather, frog like. 31 July 1980, Leadfield and Titus Canyon Checked spring 201 which has dense vegetation and a 1 ft x 2 ft patch of slightly damp earth under a boulder overhang. Checked mine tunnels near road SE of Leadfield (1/2 mile of Leadfield, 4400 Ft) for bats, found 4 Myotis sp. hanging singly in tiny crevices in tunnels (#336,337,338,339) also saw a larger bat with larger ears but it got away. Only one of the tunnels had more than one bat. Hiked in search of spring 2088 but took a wrong turn and did not go up Titus Canyon, rather we went up the canyon that comes into Titus from the NW. Heavy hiking in hot weather. Gave up when we discovered what we had done.
