12 6 June 1980 cont. to look at Epipactis in Bloom. At each stop I searched the surroundings with binoculars in the futile hope of seeing Big Horn. After emerging from Titus Canyon we proceeded to Scotty's Ranch where we finished an Equat, Margaret collected plants while I poked around. Looks like there have been some gophers at work here. Spent the evening at Mesquite Springs campground, mostly relaxing. 7 June 1980. After checking weather station at 0 elevation, we proceeded to climb Corkscrew Peak, elev. 5804. On the way we stopped to inspect Hole-in-the-Rock Spring. Located in a rocky wash, the spring is a hole of less than 2 feet diameter in a large rock outcrop. It was mostly filled with wet sand which Margaret removed, increasing the amount of H2O available. Coyote scats were highly visible around the spring and some sheep (?) scat nearby. We ascended the peak by following the crest of the ridge that goes almost due south from the peak, this was probably the easiest way to get up here. From the peak we were able to see the remains of an airplane that crashed killing six people a few days before. For some reason, incomprehensible to me, the Inyo Sheriff's Department went to an
