ngley 1981 17-20 January 1980 Primary purpose of this trip was to install weather stations. Secondary purpose was to hike through part of Titus Canyon and Fall Canyon. Drove to Furnace Creek via Pahranagat, Shoshone route. Picked up fence post whopper. Set one station at 0 elevation, then camped at Mesquite Spring Campground. Rained in early morning 18 Jan - set rain gauge + HiLo at Radiator Water Then proceeded to E side of range, Phiney Mine, to set 2 more stations. Snow started as we headed toward camp at Willow Spring road, so we hiked up at the wagon wheel motel in Beatty. Saw a Kit Fox in Sarobatus Flat. 19 Jan - Drove through Titus Canyon. Stopped at Headfield and hiked about 2 mi up Titus Canyon. Saw several sets of sheep tracks, [illegible] considerable sheep shit. Found remains of ringtail. Got snowed on some, but not much. Spent night at Stovepipe Wells. 20 Jan 1980 - Parked at parking lot at end of Titus Canyon and hiked up Fall Canyon to Fall. Saw considerable sheep shit in wash, widely scattered. No sheep seen. Came home at night.
