37 22-24 November 1979 Willow Spring Road Arrived at washout of road about 1 PM. Parked in Creosote - Frangeria at edge of wash, hiked along road to its end, about 1/4 mile from willow spring. Much coyote scat along road, also Ammospermophilus (?) holes. A few old cow pipe and equine droppings. Several jackrabbits and collontails. Camped on ridge [illegible] N.E.E. of willow spring. Next day (23) hiked to willow spring. There are 3 quite different springs on same hill, 2 have dense small patch of willows, with grass and sedge abundant. One (in middle) has mostly Beecham and grass-sedge. Evidence of sleep at all 3, no recent cow or equine evidence. Many quail, some Chukars, Marshhawk, Keftel, W.C. Sparrows. Saw a Coyote as we approached springs. Hiked back to vehicle and set 80 traps in 2 lines Sherman traps baited c. rolled oats, 2 per station, stations 20 meter apart. 1 line across desert pavement, second along wash. Heard Coyotes at night. 24th Line one caught 6 Dipsos - (#244-253) microtops and merriami. Line 2 caught 8 9 Dipsos and 1 Onychomys.
