1-2 September 1979 Road between McDonald Spring
and Mexican Camp
Set 120 traps in 3 lines; 1 sept, set 80 traps
in two lines. Line 1: along road; line 2:
cross "mesa" (ridge) down into draw, and
out continuing along across ridge - H did
a transect along this line; her transect
#9; 2 sept, picked up caught beasts,
reset traps, set a new line of 40
at 1 to road up a rocky draw
(heavy with Parsleya). Total of 200
trap nights this location. Checked
traps in evening after a long
hike to ridge saddle at start of
this canyon (could see Titus Canyon)
caught 3 Ammoospermophilus,
one had died in trap.
second night, mesa line; 40 traps: 3 dipso 1 perognathus
Second night, road line, 40 traps: 4/40
1st night, draw: 11 beasts/40
and one coachwhip snake! all traps in by 11AM
cows and horses, jackrabbits, mule deer sign
