3 30 May 79 Phinney Canyon RD cont. Perognathus longimembris (53,43) Perognathus formosus (3)(52) Some evidence of cattle. Much evidence of horses of burros. Coyote scat. On saddle of will, a 10-20 ft area heavily covered burro slit and coyote slit. Saw jackrabbits and cottontails. Deer scat fairly common. 12 June 1979. Strozzi Rauch Canyon, dense sagebrush (up to 6 ft tall) and other shrubs. Patch (ca 2 acres) very dense Salix, stringing willies, Rosa. Spring, with decrepit barrel-type catchment at start of willow patch. Stickle of stream, ca 100 ft long. Hills with scattered pitions, rare junipers, common sagebrush, aplecta, cliff rose? quite rocky. Big conglomerate (volcanic) soulders. Very difficult getting around here. Set 26 traps along stream, very close together, on both banks, on small islands (stream ca 3-ft wide at most) caught 6 scats, Peromyscus maniculatus, Peromyscus truei 1, Reithrodontomy megaletis Set 40 traps in rocky area & side of wash, in sand wash, among scattered pitions and artmedia caught 3 scats
