18 Feb 1979. Scotty's Ranch Set 40 traps, baited oats, around buildings, in wash and along banks, under brush piles, among rocks. Caught: Peromyscus crinitus (#1,3,4,8,9,10,11); Neotoma lepida (#6,7) Set at 4-5 PM, PU at about 11 AM. 9/40 = 23% 10 Mar 1979. Titus Canyon Rd. Set 80 traps baited oats, starting at top of hill, & facing slope, going down into wash. First a narrow sandy wash, then a rocky island, then a broad gravelly wash, finally up a rocky W facing hillside. Set at 5-6 PM, PU at 12 noon. Caught: Acomyspermophilus leucurus (#12) Dipodomys microps (#13,15) De merriami (#16,21) Peromyscus maniculatus (#14,(7,18,19,20)) 10/80 = 13%. Saw considerable evidence of cattle. B.t Jackrabbit. Cottontail. 31 Mar 1979 Currie Well Set 100 traps, baited oats. One line across flat (sagebrush) crossing a small wash and several tiny drainages, the other up a hill to top; hill was rocky, covered with scattered sagebrush and other shrubs. Caught: Peromyscus maniculatus (#22,24,27,34(8),37,38,40,41) P. crinitus (23,25,26, 29,32,39) Dipodomys microps (28,31) D. merriami(30)
