176 APPENDIX III CATALOG OF SPECIMENS Explanation: The first number is the collector's number, then comes the genus, species, and subspecies. The sexes are designated as M for male, F for female. Reproductive conditions are designated by Sc for scrotal, Ab for abdominal testes in males; in females, L denotes lactating, S denotes placental scars, E means embryos, a number preceding S or E gives their number, N means no embryos and no scars. The group of num- bers separated by hyphens is the set of standard measurements: total length-tail-hind foot-ear from notch. In bats, tragus and forearm are noted also. If total length-tail are in parenthesis, the tail had been amputated before the animal was captured. The next number is weight in grams. If the specimen was not weighed, "n.w." is noted. The last entry designated exceptions to standard skin and skull preparations, or molt- ing. 18 Feb 1979. California. Inyo Co: Death Valley National Monument. Scotty's Ranch. 2200 Ft. Riparian. 1.
