May 10 Point road 8:30-10:15 A.M. Snow drifts above about 6000 feet, over a foot deep Peregoy meadow at 7200 ft. Air temp. 2" above soggy meadow at 9:50 A.M. 1.5° C. at Peregoy mdr.
Clear stormy sky. No toads heard or could be induced to till
Returned to Valley 10:30 P.M. Toads emerged for breeding Stonecon and Abwohnee meadows.
? and -> at Stonecon. About 20 ->'s (no ?) at Abwohnee. All worked but one adult -> collected NE side of Abwohnee meadow. Air temp. cold 6.5° C. at Stonecon 12:15 A.M. but water temps. clear to 10-11° C. Sky clear, no freeze. 3/4 moon illuminated much of Valley by 1 A.M.
Next day clear and mild again. Snow is partly on north-facing draws and slopes. Half Dome has patch of snow at this time; Cloud's Feet still blanketed.
Check of Peregoy meadow (necessary to unlock fine gate to get this far) about 10:45 A.M. Clear blue skies, temp. 9-10° C. (air). Melt of snow continues at fairly rapid rate, no toads. Returned to shift max-min. Thermometer from Sentinel to Abwohnee meadow at 11:30 A.M. Toads still in yards at Abwohree. Clear skies, bright sun, temp. about 15° C. (air) at 12:30 P.M.
Clear, warm day continued into evening. Returned Berkeley 10 P.M.
