EL Karlsthum 1955 Journal Feb. 17 No sign of otter salamanders even after extensive rocks and litter rolling ups along the small mine treadle built here. Stebbins and Cornin got nothing here in Feb. 1953. This is probable most easternmost locality (authentic) for Batrachosps, although the questionable Yosemite Park (ran Chigoguin?) locality once verbally reported to John Harduckman may have been valid. Stebbins told me that Harduchman never did write the locality down or check it out after given it dry a YNP Ranger. We left Yosemite Valley about 4 P.M. Otter stop at Bridelung where additional Hydranutes (3?) taken. The roadside about 2 miles NE of Bridelung was checked out but no Hydromantes, Stebbins and Cornin never had been able to extend their range northward from Cornin's type locality 0.7 mi. NE Brideling, small Oneidas, Batrachosps taken. Supper stop N side of Monojion. Took Mt. Bullion cutoff to Hwy 140. Overcast sky, cool, moderate winds. Several listening stops for spadefoot toads. Bylas only heard. 8 P.M. 7 mi. E, 5 miles N of Plorida, about 500 ft, Meryjira Co., Calif. Small brook crosses road number of times line. Rora catalbeina tadad and 2 large adults, 1 subadult collected. Bylas (few) out and calling. Eggs not seen. Sky clearing, air 10-12°C. Live adult Bufo boree on Hwy 140, 4 mi. NE of Plorida, Meryjira Co., Calif. Also D.O.R. 3 mi. NE Plorida
