EL Karlstrom 1955 Journal Feb. 17 Torcaza sicensis from a pool formed by the creek. Live and D.O.R. Taricha first encountered near Top of Brideling Grade, about 3000 feet altitude. We counted 46 D.O.R. Taricha over 1.6 road miles between mentioned locality and Brideling. Brideling mileage (151.3) Brideling, 1500 feet, Mariposa Co., California SE slope above French River in area just SW of Brideling Inn. 6 Hydromantes brunus, 2 Oreides lugubris, 5 Batrachoseps, 1 Diadophis. Overcast but some short periods of sunshine. Surface moist and good soil. Rain had commenced Feb. 16 after long dry spell. Taricha out but none taken here. Gnorini's Fork French and French River, 1500 ft. Mariposa Co., Calif. SE of Burg 140 up the stage down south bank of the Fork. 2 Oreides, 2 Batrachoseps! Ensatia. Light drizzle from here into Yosemite Valley where we checked in with Hubbard for social call. Snow on valley floor varied from a few to 15 inches. Intermittent drizzle, low clouds obscuring Half Dome and other high points, cool. Base of Cathedral Rocks, 4160 feet, Y.N.P., Mariposa Co., Calif. 7 Ensatia (3 juveniles) taken on snow- patched 25-30 deg slope S side of valley above (East of) note several Batrachoseps collected at bridge Trading Post; 1 mile WSW of El Portal, 7700 ft., Mariposa Co., Calif. About 5 Batrachoseps live but
