4:25 P.M. Snake lying on top of light gray granite boulder. 4'x3' and 10" above grass surface. Top of ridge 90 feet east of small flowing creek. Animal undoubtedly basking in exposed position to get benefit of late afternoon hazy sun. Ovacal temp.

one inch above rock (bulbs shaded). Snake active adult over two feet long.
