Nrn 1000 Palma P.O. the road heads straight west back to Palm Springs, sandy desert out here on valley flats with the wind-blown sand drifted on to edge of road many places. No success. Bright full moon may retard reptile activity but night air temperatures also have dropped off. Return to our Tolquity Canyon camp-site. 2 Bufeo punctatus from Tolquity Creek 9:45 P.M. April 25 After breakfast we moved out on sandy desert to locality 3 mi NW of Thousand Palma P.O. (Giant Dune) Began search 8:20 A.M. Slightly overcast. Young lizard Uma inornata, few Collisonia out. Air temp 1" above sand (bulls shelled 25.1° C. at 9:00 A.M.; sand 34.5° C. in open situation. By 10:00 A.M. we began to collect more and larger Uma. Air temp 1" above sand 31.5° C. Sand temp. 39.0° C. First Digisaurus collected about 10:45 A.M. when conditions still hotter. Cloud cover gradually dissipated 9-10 A.M.
