Elkardstrom 1956 Journal April 24 Birds seen: Western Kingbird, mockingbird, mourning dove, linnet. After lunch at Calozym we returned to work up a large canyon about 2 1/2 miles SE of Calozym. 1:00 P.M. to 5:15 P.M. Kodachrome # 526 3 Sceloporus orcutti flowering cactus, # 7 across Coyote Pass 3 Uta merana flying northward. 16 Xantusia henshawi (3 preserved) 3 Sceloporus occidentalis Dry, warm windy day. Good stream flow in canyon interesting association of goose-wood and creoste rush. Wild grape, poison oak, alder in lush canyon bottom. Evodietyon sp.(?), flowering cactus, Yucca some yuca whipplei (spelled) great. A rugged canyon with huge granite boulders. Canyon wrens, black- chinned hummingbird, California quail abundant. Thought I also heard a green-backed goldfinch. Stallins and I took from stream. 1 Rosa muscosa 2 Dyla auricolor Returned to Palm Springs for supper.
