El Koshsturn 1956 journal April 21 466 at Clear Creek (cont.) 1 Anniella pulchra Left area 4:50 p.m. Water flowing clear creek; afternoon mild with hazy sun. Supper 6:40 P.M. Mojave (8058) We started running road from Mojave on. Better road conditions (less traffic) from junction 466 and 395. An alternate old stretch of the highway parallels 395 for a number of miles. Night temps. not too cool for reptiles (RCS) but we found none. Pavement cool; winds very strong at Mojave at sunset. Camped at Stelbins' favorite site 3 mi. N, 1 mi. W of Victorville along Mojave River. mild, moonlit evening. Bufo microcephalus B. boreas holochilus Sandy areas above river level slightly dampish under the surface. Temperature at night down to April 22 about 10° C. at 6:00 A.M. Breakfast Victorville then SE through Apple Valley, State 18. Junny, warm. Took Crystal Creek Park road due south from Lucerne Valley. 2 Ensatina e. croceata - schenkeri juveniles (a third juvenile was returned after being collected) 1 Geochrotus multicinctus Sceloporus occidentalis On returning northward to Lucerne Valley we collected two reptiles on the dirt road. 1 Mastigophis flagellum 1 Phrynosoma platyhirina
