May 19 2 mi NE Chiqueria, 7050 ft., Y.N.P., Monzera Co., Calif.
- fully sloped but 50% sunlight filtering through trees.
11:20 A.M. I took a Kodachrome shot #17
facing W across the meadow with large yielding
salomades in foreground. F 9 at 1/50th. Noted
vegetation on way out. Some sparse new growth of
groser (sedge?) to 2" in meadow. What appear
to be unfolding spikes of corn lily (Veratrum)
or the 4" in soggy open area in meadow.
Quaking aspen from groves in meadow, are just
budding. Conifers include sugar pines, red fir mostly.
