EL Karlstrom 1955 Buffer corner Aug. 30 of emerged toads collected at edge of pond by David Dorrenfeldt & Paul Ellis, assistants for today. Water level same pond A. Good seepage flow continues. Sedges in pond to 16" height; fruiting structures drying out. 10:30 A.M. Two more adults worked - one with a tablet containing 3 large stinger C<sup>60</sup> soln. (tablet #3 one side /# other - refer to tablet both sheet). T71 worked by cloe-toggling but no C<sup>60</sup> tablets left. Meadow becoming drier and brownish, but water still flowing slightly in rivulet. Simple gentian in full bloom border of pond A. A buckwheat & small composites drying out. Monmouth Park to south has one good-sized group (ice) toadlets on N- forcing slope. Otherwise, the high country is mostly lone of snow, and the streams as Dana Fork are low. 18 toads marked today (T67-T84) and recovering of about four previously tagged. Geiger counter still not available for use as geiger tube in pond being replaced. The toads had recently emerged this morning dry 8:45 A.M. Clear sunny skies, moderate winds (for Ross area) which picked up after 9:30 A.M. Toads very active in grasses and sedges by early afternoon. Ad. #> at 1:15 P.M. (T84) 25 yards W weather station door at 26.8°C. Air 27.2°C.) tall grasses, toad tagging on surface. Favorred site for adults in edge of pond among sedges if there is ready access to ad away from water.
