July 20 Elbetto Pass Area, Alpine Co., Calif. Paul Elsner and I made a hurried check of butterfly locality and eggs at Highald Lake. Adults, gruvules and lower tohen.
July 27 Twigy Pass weather station, 200 yds. NE Page Stat.
No adults seen on surface between station and home at pond A. A cooler morning although sky perfectly clear. Moderate to light gusty breeze 9:15 a.m.
Clouded chart on thermogrel. Medium working perfectly. Water temp. Quick recording thermomter 11.20°C. At 9:25 a.m. Thermogrel reads 53°F or within 10±C. Air temp. bulb shaded 12.10 C. Surface temp. of grass in sun 14.0°C. 1" of water where thermogrel lead is laid in silt, about 4' out from housing. Sedge green to 16" pond A. Whole meadow area entirely free of snow and almost entirely green this area.
No mosquitoes bothering me this period of morning.
Sample of tobs tohen pond A both alive and preserved. Toke now at edges of pond within 4-5' of margin.
