June 7 Kaizen Pass (0.2 mi. NE) Meadow, 9200 ft., Fresno Cr., Caly. 12:15 P.M. Male trilling lustily. Air temp beneath shade of lodgepole pine 22.0 C. Air temp 1" above dense meadow margin in full sunlight 24.2 C.
I set tape recorder and mike at NW edge of meadow and left it there in hopes birds would commence calling again.

Recording started about 1 P.M. Sky clear but for few billowing high clouds, full sunlight. Gusty breezes springing up from SW. Birds trilling nicely. Mike set 45' from lodgepole pine border. Mike lead runs along a log pine snag to prevent whistling.
