Elkallatum 1955 Befor losses Oct. 8 Churchoone mdr, 4000 ft, Yosemite Valley. Brief check here with a hard range 8:55-9:20 P.M. along drible path bordering NE. under of meadow. Also along fence and ditch SW of the Hotel grounds. Three of us (Roberson, Hamilton, Me) found no tools out neglected to take air temp. but estimated 55-60 degrees F. Next a check of portion Stoneman Meadow- 9:30- 9:45 P.M. Hamilton and I found no tools but heard a number of active mice in brush. Oct. 22 Churchoone mdr. Anderson, Smith + John, Burns, Kenzohn, and I set out 75 snow-trogs here to make partial survey of rodents. During course of making the set (9:00-10:00 P.M.) I looked carefully for tools as others did. No juvenals founder under logs pond or elsewhere. Not a tool seen. Air temp. was a cold 5.8° C. a few inches above meadow grass. No standing water but vegetation slightly damp from ground fog and mist. Snufree tool activity probably has ceased for this fall.
