Bufo boreas
May 11
Dental Meadow 11:20 A.M.
Shifted weather station to Chuvahnee mde. Doug Muller's max-min for May 5th was 74-30° F. Water level 26½" at 9 A.M.
Today's reading 70-35° F. at 11:30 A.M. Water level 32¼".
Water table high in this meadow area with extensive deep meadow pools. However, toads do not select this situation if last night's coverage is prevailing on this scene. I didn't find a single toad out 12:45-1:15 A.M. over middle path, modern paths, grassy areas, or in ponds. The heavy tufted nature of the grass in this area may be unsuitable for toad progression. Certainly water was available here last summer and is now.
Where do toads occupying Court residential area to north of Dental Meadow breed? Ready access to Dental Meadow seems to be the case.
Chuvahnee Meadow revisited 11:45 A.M. Max-min thermometer placed in weather housing men pond where breeding toads still present. Location is on S or mural River side of road which runs along the south side of Chuvahnee meadow.
One pair in complexus, about 12 other (?) worked (see data sheets). Water depth 13" on stake set in pond 6 feet from present sedge. Pond A where most toads present runs NW x SE
