Bufor lores.
April 13 in the middle. Presence of pond lilies gives this particular pond the appearance of permanency. I'd say were choosing here last night but a quick look in the pond revealed no egg clusters. Water is clear, bottom silty and soft. Or flow through a culvert at the SW end of the pond. Practically no insect life except for few water-striders, and no bloom of algae yet. Water temp. 1" below surface 1 foot from pond edge at 4:00 P.M. 19° C. Pond (log) thermometer set accordingly. Air temp above grass some time was 16.8° C.

one very large adult D.O.R. on blocktop road west of bury 142 through town. This road parallels slow-moving creek, many quite still pools present along wide creek bottom. Algae bloom high, so much air is putrid with its odor. Adult > bend calling 6:45 P.M. but I couldn't find it. An adult > collected away vegetation in stream. Elevated and water temp. 12° C. In middle of channel the colder (12.6° C.) water moves about 1 yard in 2-3 seconds. Heavy weed growth, some scattered clumps of cattails. I worked along this algae-cloaked stream until 8:30 P.M. Adult > foods (about 5) were taken on or near the block-top road paralleling
