ELKadatum 1955 Bulor bnewz March 2 FM Richard locality - and immediately swam again to the bottom which here was 14" below surface. I heard but one mole call tonight, a series of half a dozen notes given when I rang ad I first approached the pond. The moles are not restricted to edges or shallow water, many were seen out in deepest parts of pond (over 3 feet deep some area) but usually resting against some grass [illegible] or other debris. Two positions of moles noted. One, they are spread- eagle and nearly parallel with surface, their backs strongly depressed[illustration]. Others seen resting in a near vertical position, rear end down along with at least one hind leg, as forelimbs laid against grass or other debris.[illustration] This is a food ??
