Elk Aldem 1955 Journal Oct.21 Left MVZ 6:30 8.M. in my Plymouth accompanied by John ad Sarah Burns, Jim Anderson, and George Deinsohn. Supper at Paula's Grill on College Avenue in Oakland upon recommendation of George. $1.35 filet mignon wonderful! Day. 24 to Walnut Creek, than south to U.S. 50. moderately cool, clear evening in Great Valley. Gas and coffee stop Merced 11 P.M. Entered Oct.22 Yosemite Park 12:30 A.M. Young gray fox sighted along road above Cascade 12:45 A.M. about 3200 feet elevation. Overnight Stay at Rogersi Club. Breakfast Lodge Cafeteria 7 A.M. Gray squirrels, deer abundant ad active Valley floor. Catellus baccalgi (4-5) along road between junction Big Oak Flat Road - Hwy 140 and 2nd tunnel (between 3500 - 4500 feet). We spotted a mountain coyote on Tioga Road near where the South Fork of the Tuolumne intersects it, elevation about 6500 ft. The coyote quickly eloped out of side away boulders and trees as we approached by car. Day mild and clear. Quaking aspens in full fall color. Very few deer seen at higher elevations. We arrived at Tioga Pass 9:45 A.M. Air long. about 10-11°C. but little breeze. clear azure blue skies - no clouds. A moderate cold wind spring up from the north (first north wind I experienced at Pass) about 10:30 P.M. Considerable difference in air temperature between
