Aug. 9 Brief trip to Teiga Base with Bob Mozell of California Radiation Safety Lab and his family.
left Valley 10:45 D.M., arrived at Base 2 P.M.
after lunch stop meadows. Bob brought my
sensitive Geiger scintilometer which he tried with
little success before the "receiver" was broken
by jarring it. Returned to Valley 6:30 P.M. after
nice outing for both our families - little data for
me. Thermograph serviced. Dozens of radioactive
tarsing (see species account of our detecting a "hot
rock") uncovered.
Aug. 30 left Valley 6:20 A.M. accompanied by Dick
and David Henterweidt and Paul Elkins. We
left Dick off near Enatic Dome at West side
Tuslumme meadows, and continued to Meadows for
breakfast. Arrived Teiga Base 8:40 A.M. Weather
cool but clear and little air movement. Toads
probably just emerged this time. Wind picked
up by 9:30 A.M. Although day clear and warm,
remained weather station yard. A. Togged toads
T67-84, four with radioactive Co-60 pellets.
Returned to Valley 5:20 P.M. I talked with
Don Mullally, U.C.L.A. while at Base this mom.
See species account.
